Cake Batter Oreo Fudge

Cake Batter Oreo Fudge

Sometimes you need to eat lettuce and cry yourself to sleep night after night. Then there are times when you just need to shove some fat kid food in your face. Right now, I’m trying to find a happy medium. We have decided to start a ‘program’ – you know, wake up early, sweat your ass off, eat better, run faster, jump higher sort of thing. I’m not sure I can handle it, but who knows. All so we can be a smidgen faster on the bikes (which really doesn’t matter as long as you are still crashing into trees. Yeah, […]

Quick and Easy Rocky Road Fudge

Yo Kita (said in my most Bitchin’ Kitchen Nadia G voice) what’s up with the wonky post schedule this week?  Um, It’s Christmas, Fonz. I promise a normal week next week complete with New Years countdowns, resolutions and killer recipes. But for today, I just got done at the gym, my house is still a crazy hot mess, my cat has claimed my lap and my legs have gone past the tingly asleep stage to the omg you are going to fall on your face when you stand up and my dog has the most disgusting farts in the world. So for […]

Pumpkin Pie Fudge

Anyone who says they enjoy looking through the catalogs of stores like Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma clearly is not living in the same salary bracket as myself. Now, there’s nothing wrong with that, but personally, it’s like poking myself in the eye with a hot fork. So when this article hit the web and spread like wild fire, I took a 15 minute break at work and laughed out loud. Seriously, if you have not read it yet, close my page and go enjoy it. I’ll let it slide this time. I too had recently received my oversize stack of wishful thinking in the mail and had […]

Thin Mint Trifles

There is something so awesome about Girl Scout cookies. From childhood memories of selling them myself (though,  I never made it past Brownie) to a secret love for the little buggers, they are awesome. So, when I saw something like 20 boxes in my father’s pantry, I first worried that he was stocking up for doomsday, then ‘borrowed’ a few boxes for creation. We’ve been enjoying sweet desserts with the classic Girl Scout cookies hidden in here and there for weeks. I saw these beautiful Tagalong Peanut Butter Parfaits last year on My Kitchen Addiction and fell in love with the […]

Skillet Brownies

If you were to have the impression that I cook a lot, you would be right. And through all most of my experiments, recipes, failures, and success, Handsome sits and eats without saying a word. I ask if it was good, and he  may nod, or say yes, but there is rarely any excitement in his voice. After a while, you just come to terms with it. He wouldn’t care if I fed him macaroni and cheese for weeks on end, he would nod and say it was good (which may be something I considered for a while just to see […]

Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

My father is in charge of certain things in our household. Always has been, always will be. The grill is his. The smoker, don’t touch it. You know, those manly things. Oh, and there’s the baked goods and candy. It’s sick really – but the man can bake like there is no tomorrow. His pies, pastries, cookies and brownies are something I have not been able to recreate in all of my failed attempts and moments of brilliance in the kitchen. He just has the magic touch. Guess that post from Chow earlier this week wasn’t all right because my […]

Irish Cream Fudge and The Happy Baker Review

It was about a year ago when I noticed I was no longer flipping through cookbooks just waiting for the next delicious thing to pop out at me. No, I was reading them. Front to back. Absorbing the words as though it were the hottest Nicholas Sparks novel to date. This is what makes Happy Baker: A Girls Guide to Emotional Baking grab your attention. Not the pages filled with gorgeous goodies, but the stories that get you from recipe to recipe. Erin writes bout her experiences from being young and in high school to dating and falling in and […]

I believe in Santa Claus and a No Fuss Fudge

The other day my co-worker asked my boss and I when is the right time to explain the ‘truth’ about Santa to his little boy. His son is getting to that age where some kids know, and others don’t, but he doesn’t want his son to be picked on or bullied in school for still believing in Santa. When he asked, my boss and I in a rare moment of agreement, said “you don’t”. We don’t want my co-workers kid to be picked on or anything, but who says when the right time is? I am in my 20’s and […]
