Poison Apple Cocktail, a sinfully sweet blend of cran-apple juice, sour granny smith infused vodka, and a healthy splash of bubbly Prosecco. Garnish with fresh thyme and enjoy good friends and laughter all season long.

There's something about a quality cocktail that makes me smile.

A balance of sweet and a touch of bite from the liquor, not too sugary and not all burn. A crafted balance.

For anyone who's been clicking through the site for a while, it's no surprise that I am filling the holidays with sinful cocktails. I've been known to create one or two every season to keep my spirits bright.

Between the hustle and bustle, the sun setting impossibly early, and nights that make me want to wrap up and get cozy, libations may be my choice as I dream up recipes for the site.

This one was a spur of the moment attempt to win a trip to Italy (I didn't - whomp whomp) but it was a great reminder that you can create amazing cocktails with what you have on hand. I looked around the kitchen, knowing I had to feature prosseco, and decided that in this case, simple was better. Nothing smoked or dipped (like this Winter Smoked Gin and Tonic or the CampfireCrunch). Just a few on hand ingredients, and your signature hostess drink is in hand in less than 5 minutes.

PRO TIP! Set up a cocktail bar as you great guests - have a pitcher of cran-apple juice mixed with vodka set up with a bottle of bubbly right next to glasses so everyone can top themselves off as they enter.

Now, that I have a cocktail, and am ready to mingle. Let's get these holidays started.
