Easy Gazpacho & Goat Cheese Croutons for Pass the Cook Book Club

Easy Gazpacho from PasstheSushi.com

It’s that time again! Time to dust off those cookbooks, crack em open, and put on our aprons. Who am I kidding – there was no apron ;D Heck, I barely got it together in time for this months round of the Pass the Cook Book Club, which is why Juanita’s Cucina  picked the recipes for this round from Ina’s cookbook Foolproof. I own a rediculous collection of cookbooks, and although I find Ina’s cooking style appealing, I do not own any of her books. I have always wanted to try her recipes though, so when I saw that Jen […]

Slow Cooker Classic Marinara Sauce

Slow Cooker Marinara Sauce

It all comes down to this – the final Slow Cooker Monday. Spring is here and, even though I use my slow cooker all year round, it will be time for a new ‘theme’ for Monday posts here in the PtS kitchen. Sadly, I have no idea what that theme is yet. It will be a shocker to us both In the mean time we should recap the slow cooker recipes of the last 13 weeks. If I could find a way to make this into a cheesy sitcom montage I would. Just play some corny music in your head […]

Thin-Crust Skillet Pizza for Two

Skillet_pizza_0357

Cooking for two is tough. Stupid tough. Everything is packaged either too big or too small. I feel like Goldilocks. Don’t get me wrong, we eat like champs around here and I’m not looking to make everything with tiny portions, but some nights we just need something for the two of us that doesn’t leave us dreading leftovers for the next few nights. Lately I have been trying to tie in a few more cooking for two recipes on the blog. Where I do love making big meals, these quick and easy date night dinners (and desserts) have been awesome. […]

Loaded Potato Soup and Bacon Scones

potato_soup_045A

It’s Monday and you know what that means – Soup’s on! It’s easy to forget in the warmer months how much I love soup, but these past few weeks and rekindled a love affair too deep for a few warm days to make is disappear. It was a beautiful 70something degrees today but tomorrow calls for rain and I’m betting a bowl of this soup is really going to hit the spot. Now, as far as soups go, potato soup didn’t jump out at me as one I had to make, but it was one my boyfriend swore he loved. and you all […]

Spring Gardens and Easy Chicken and Rice

chicken_and _rice_0255

Do you ever have those ridiculously stupid conversations with your partner where you end up annoyed just because? They often go like this, “Hey Babe, can you do this for me?” “No, I’m busy.” “Whatcha’ doing?” “I don’t know.” …. Please tell me we are not alone… So I huff off before early morning lack of caffeine and irritation sets in then feel like an ass two hours later when I spot Handsome home early from work sectioning our an 8×10′ area of our yard for a new garden. The garden I have been talking about… The garden I mentioned in passing weeks ago. Who’s got […]

Creamy Slow Cooker Tomato Soup

Hunger Games… This post may lose me a few readers. I just finished the third of the books and am still trying to figure out if I liked them or not. Obviously, I liked some aspect of them because I read all of them. So, where I may have enjoyed reading the Hunger Games, do I think it could have better better? Hells yes. And here’s why. The concept is great, a post revolutionary country divided into sections with forced manual labor and the constant reminder of the supreme power government holds over us, brilliant idea. The idea of one girl breaking […]

In a pinch appetizer: Caprese Sticks

caprese_skewers4

Remember those chain emails that asked you a billion questions so your friends could get to know you better? Yeah, after the 900th time I had to answer that my favorite color was red, I gave up. Filing those emails in spam every time I got one and begged my friends to stop. We were in junior high school, I’m sure that had something to do with why these were so fun for a while. In the blogging world, I see similar things spread like wildfire and often don’t participate, haunted by the memory of those emails. But I have […]

Grilled Everything Pizza

grilled_pizza28

I may have a new obsession this summer and it took me by surprise. Normally I get excited at the smell of smouldering charcoals and start to anticipate burgers, steaks, chops and other hearty meaty goodness – but this year I grilled my first pizza and there is no going back. I may love my pizza stone but once I clumsily laid that first dough on the grate my opinion was changed forever. Sure, dinner takes a little planning ahead so that you have time to prep your dough and let it rise, but once that’s done, everything comes […]
