Slow Cooker Garlic Braised Brisket

Maybe it’s because it’s January, maybe it’s just something in the air but I am living that ‘power of doing’ slogan you hear all over the Home Depot commercials. From wanting a large chunk of back fence to trap the neighbors rotating crew of dogs from entering my yard and to help separate me from the entire eye rolling ghetto fabulous conversations that take place in the yard to our left when the weather gets a little warmer, to rearranging the living room, and hanging one of those curved shower curtains. I’m digging all that’s getting done recently in the house. Now, can […]

Rosemary Brie Chicken Burgers

This weekend was that perfect kind of weather that inspired you to get up and go outside, fitting for Earth Day weekend. Did you get your green thumb on, go outside and roll around in the sun (you know, until all that rain on Sunday)? I took Saturday off and enjoyed a little staycation to get the garden prepped and ready for vegetables. Lowes was running a decent sale on starter plants and where we really love shopping at a local garden for all of our supplies, we figured a few to start couldn’t hurt. And lucky me, the load […]

Skillet Rosemary Chicken

There’s something appealing about a one dish meal (to be fair this one needs a pot of boiling water for the potatoes too…). Something magical about a skillet that can get tossed into the oven. And something quite spiffy about delicious hearty dinners at this time of year. Well, being honest, I don’t think there’s a time of year when I wouldn’t skip breakfast or lunch for a good dinner. When all of the above combine, we can take a bite of rosemary scented heaven and relax after a long day. This is the kind of dinner that could satisfy […]

Grill-Roasted Beef

When I think of roast beef, I think of low and slow cooking in a roasting ban filled with veggies and a crisp fall afternoon. I certainly don’t think open flame, charcoals and barbecue. Until today. A classic roast beef is hard to top in the comforting down home category, but I may never go back.   Stay tuned because later this week I show you a great recipe to use up any leftovers.

Comforting Pita Rolls for When Life is Crazy

Have I mentioned I welcome crazy into my life? I could go into a list of reasons why this is oh so very true, but instead I’ll just tell you what’s happening this week at the ranch. I’m dog sitting. That’s right, I decided Handsome’s 70 pound attention hogging mutt and my two cats weren’t enough and volunteered us to watch a very energetic rottweiler. Golda is a very excited 2 year old 90 pound gorgeous pup and she’s going to destroy my house (not at all on purpose, just based on the laws of physics – and object in […]

Bringing back the Filet-O-Fish, Fried fish and Rosemary Potatoes

If you hadn’t noticed by the filet-o-fish being back on the menu at every local chain, it’s Lent. Now, I’m not Catholic (so not Catholic that my Catholic grandmother threw ‘holy water’ at my infant self calling my a ‘Pegan baby’. That’s right, I’ve been trouble since before I could talk. Whether that story is true or false I’ll never know, but my father was not Catholic and my mother from a very strict Catholic family so I can see it causing some problems). Even though I’m not Catholic, I know a lot of people use the season of Lent […]

Rustic Rosemary Garlic Bread

I have been a lackadaisical food blogger this week. NyQuil will do that do a girl. I haven’t been actively commenting on anyones blog or anything, but I promise, if were buddies on FoodBuzz, I’ve been buzzing like crazy. I’ll be back up to 100% soon, I promise. As part of my battle to beat my fear of yeast this year, I made this bread to go with yesterdays soup post. Its a hearty dense bread that would be great for sandwiches but holds up beautifully to just being toasted and smeared with butter.   What I did different: I […]

My cat is a foodie. Rosemary Fries

My cat is a foodie. He loves vegetables. Snap the end of asparagus or green beans – he comes running, shuck corn – he’s at your feet, peel potatoes – he’s meowing at the top of his lungs. Every time I’m working with vegetables, my cat is there. Throw him a piece and he wants nothing to do with it. Unless its canned tuna, the cat really does not care what I am doing in the kitchen and he doesn’t get table scraps, so I can’t even blame his bizarre vegetable attraction on bad parenting and gluttony.   So what […]

So I can keep my resolutions for at least two weeks!

This week was awesome! We are almost done remodeling our bathroom on a dime. The tiles been laid, the sink spray painted (yes, that’s right), the walls painted, new toilet installed (that according to my boyfriend ‘could sink the titanic’), & towel rack hung. All that’s left is another coat of paint on the two easy walls and trim. It looks so nice! And I think I am happy with a possible color pallet for the rest of the house! Plus a customer of mine is a paint product tester and since Handsome is a contractor we may get hooked […]
