Slow Cooker Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter.  Did you have any idea that your crock pot could do that?  Yeah, you’ve got to try this one.

Slow Cooker Triple Chocolate & Peanut Butter Cake | Kita Roberts PassTheSushi.com
Want a classy at home date night for your loved one so you don’t have to deal with the stress of going out and forgetting reservations on Valentine’s day? Want an even easier dessert that you can whip up when you get home from work that will be ready in time to send the night off with some whipped cream on top? (He’ll never know you didn’t spend all day baking). Want a chance to win a cherry red Crock-Pot? Yeah, I thought so.

For my regulars, you know by now how much I love my slow cooker. I am featuring it every Monday in winter, after all. So when Crock-Pot wanted to send me a classy red version of their Cook and Carry, I figured why not share the love with my readers (get it, Valentine’s humor… no? Aw, come on). I love how easy the crock pot is to clean, and the snazzy lock in place lid that makes transport a breeze. Think of how easy bringing a hot dish to parties will be from now on? So, if you are just starting out, a new cook, or a cook who has not investing in the life changing product that is the slow cooker yet, Crock-Pot’s Cook and Carry is a nice starter slow cooker to ease your way into things. It comes very well packed and has a warm, low, and hot setting for various cooking needs. And with 6 quarts to fill you can even shove an entire small bird in the slow cooker for weeknight suppers!  Seriously, I’m slow cooker obsessed this winter – and you should be too!

Slow Cooker Chocolate Cake?  Yup.

  15. Totally not gonna lie…I want that slow cooker. (God, that sounds terrible. I feel like a two-year-old now.) My mom was the slow-cooker queen when I was growing up – she was in the Air Force, had two kids and a husband, and somewhere in there managed her own desktop publishing business. She did a slow cooker ratatouille that would make anyone want to dive face-first into their vegetables. Me? I’m queen of all things involving sugar and vanilla and flour and yeast, though I don’t have a slow cooker to play with! And your selection would look beautiful beside my cherry red Kitchen Aid and bright red VitaMixer. Seriously. Bribe? Shoot. I chose to be a writer and a baker, and have yet to figure out how to strike it rich from either (or the two combined). But if it makes you feel better, I follow you on FB and Twitter, subscribe to your RSS feed and would totally tell everyone how freaking awesome you are if I were to end up with that dang slow cooker!

Rock on. And thanks for the blog. Digg it.

  16. My favorite slow cooker dish is beef stew. The house smells so good while it’s cooking, and it’s even better the next day.

(The “pin it” button didn’t yield a result, and I couldn’t find a pin for this post on the Pass the Sushi Pinterest page to repin.) Sorry! But I tried, anyway.

  89. 2 things I love in the slowcooker. Beans. I usually do black or pinto, with a whole onion, some garlic cloves, and a dried chile. Cook on low for 8 hrs while at work. I don’t soak them overnight, so I don’t always have to think ahead to do it. #2 – BBQ pork. yum!

  90. A few years ago, my mom and I started making yogurt at home with a yogurt maker. After graduating college and moving further away, wanted homemade yogurt, but didn’t have the maker. Introduce the crock-pot – problem solved! I microwave my milk right in the crock, add dry milk and cultures, stick it in the oven wrapped in a towel and turn the oven light on. 8 hours later I have the same homemade yogurt that my mother and I made!

Like Cindy, I also think beans are GREAT in the slow cooker. I just finished some chickpeas (no soaking!) that I’ll use for hummus. Yummy!

  91. This weekend I made an amazing lentil stew in the crockpot, it turned out phenomenally. The other one that is ridiculously easy that I like to do is four chicken breasts (boneless/skin less), one jar of salsa (your preference on heat), one can of corn (not drained, I use the no salt), and one can of black beans, cook in the crock pot for eight hours on low. This makes a dinner everyone can enjoy. But the brand new cherry red slow cooker would go perfectly in my kitchen and allow me to donate my existing one to a local women’s shelter – maybe filled with this cake!

  92. My favorite is this Mexican chicken thing… chicken breasts, cream cheese, salsa, corn, black beans, and I usually throw in some chipotle peppers. Very spicy and delicious!

  112. Doreen Sawyer says:

I make a venison roast in mine. I add 2-3 cups of water, beef bouillon, onions, liquid smoke, and salt and pepper to taste. Cook until it falls apart. The beef bouillon and liquid smoke takes out any gamey taste the venison might have.

  113. Rhonda McKnight says:

    My fave is Curry Chicken.
I’m following both on FB and have pinned. Thanks!

  114. Slow cooker pot roast.

  115. I don’t often use a slow cooker, but when I do I make shredded chicken, just place frozen skinless boneless chicken in there with chicken stock and turn it on. Just before dinner I take out the chicken and shred it for tacos, bbq chicken sandwiches, I then use the stock and some chicken to make a quick chicken soup with celery and carrots, while the broth cools the veggies cook and there is a easy meal for the next night.

  116. patty pierce says:

My favorite crockpot dish I would have to say is one that I made up myself after having breakfast at a well known restaurant and eating a dish similar I said I have to figure out how to make this! I call it… Sausage/egg breakfast casserole. It is layered with a cheddar cheese white sauce, sausage, potatoes, eggs, peppers,& onions and seasonings~ this is always a hit with family & friends! I make it for holidays & I even will make this dish while camping and I can prepare it the night before, wake in the morn to a yummy breakfast for all! 🙂

  117. Lisa Manzi says:

My favorite slow cooker dish is anything that will make my very particular husband and 2 kids happy. He is a great cook and I struggle. I find that the slow cooker is a good way to combine a lot of flavors. Since my 8 yr old is a huge RIBBBBBBS fan. I love to make Ribs for the family. It seems to be a lot harder to mess up using a Slow Cooker.
