Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake

This Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake is the ultimate indulgence, with layers of thick peanut butter filling and rich dark chocolate cake. Then, it's topped with a dreamy chocolate glaze for good measure.

1

To prepare the chocolate cake, preheat the oven to 325°F, butter and line three 8-inch cake pans, and mix cocoa powder with sour cream and hot water. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

2

Beat butter, shortening, sugars, eggs, and vanilla in a mixer, then alternately add dry and cocoa mixtures to the bowl. Divide the batter into pans and bake for 35-40 minutes. Cool, then prepare a filling by beating butter, peanut butter, cream cheese, salt, and confectioners’ sugar, adding chocolate chips.

3

For frosting, whisk confectioners’ sugar and cocoa powder, then cream butter, cream cheese, salt, and add the cocoa-sugar mixture. For the glaze, melt chocolate, butter, and corn syrup.

4

Assemble the cake by layering with peanut butter filling, frosting, and topping with glaze and peanut butter whoppers. Refrigerate for 15 minutes before serving at room temperature.
