Braised Cola Onions & Sausage

Braised Cola Onions and Sausage

Most of the time I stare at into the kitchen waiting for a recipe to pop into my head just to find that although the pantry is over stocked, I don’t have a single thing I need on hand. Today’s post was different. I had direction. A group of fantastic bloggers was challenged by Williams-Sonoma and Le Creuset to show off the beautiful color of cookware; Quince. Immediately, warm comforting meals came to mind – about a dozen or so of them for me to narrow it down from. And I picked the one that had a pile of onions […]

Slow Cooker Sausage and Peppers

2012 is over. No going back now. It’s time to get your game face on and tackle the upcoming year with me. I mean seriously, I’m talking war paint up your mug like you are Mel Gibson getting ready to storm the battlefields of Stirling. For 2013 – let’s just make a checklist. For the home: New carpet, new sofa, new chairs for the kitchen, big shiny new back door. Yeah, that last one needs to happen. Our house is slowly developing a look but we need to have a little heart to heart. I mean seriously, our house is missing… […]

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

It’s full out mountain biking weather now that we are clear from winter. Sure, we could be tough and bike all year long, but neither one of us seemed to muster up the courage to brave the frosty chill. We threw on our bike shorts in mid February and have been out every weekend at least twice since. Our goal this year is between 50 and 100 miles every month. So far this month, that’s not happening, but I can easily see us getting there. As with all things though, there are their little annoyances. Our biggest peeve has got […]

Swiss Mushroom Burgers

Tomorrows the big day. Or rather, the worst day in a foodies eyes… I go in to have my wisdom teeth yanked. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery after everyone’s stories last week to help me prepare. I was overwhelmed with everyone’s responses last week when I asked about your personal experiences with oral surgery and to offer me suggestions. We have stocked the house will pudding, applesauce, and soup and a certain someone has promised to make me copious amounts of his famous macaroni and cheese when I am up to chewing. To prepare though, I have tried to eat as many […]

Tequila Chicken Sandwiches

tequila_chicken_sandwich_9

Tequila chicken sandwich. What about a name like that doesn’t make you want to shove a small child out of the way for a serving? Besides, it has tequila in it, a kid should clearly not be in that line. Gotta look out for the little guys, right? And if we are talking football food, which we have been, all week long (really, there’s a theme going and everything), this is got it going on. Sweet and spicy peppers peppers, onions, quick pulled rotisserie chicken, melted gooey cheese, and liquor all on a soft bun. Grab a napkin, wrap it […]

Cheesy Potato Frittata a Secret Recipe

Look around this blog. You notice anything? Keep looking… That’s right. No basic egg dishes. Ever. The egg, one of the most versatile, simply and healthy things one could ever cook and you won’t see me use them (unless we’re baking something – then it doesn’t count). Want a dirty little secret? I hate eggs. Ever since one of my mom’s boyfriends told me that that little white thing you get in some eggs was a baby chicken I’d just murdered, I’ve never been able to eat them. These protein packed pillars of the gastronomical universe should make my meatatarian self salivate […]

Onion-Cheddar Pork Burgers

Handsome and I have recently gotten ourselves knee deep into a new hobby. One I would have never imagined myself doing alone. Mountain biking. Every weekend and on weeknights where one of us doesn’t have school or work, we load up the truck with out two new Cannondale bikes, our silly sport apparel, and helmets and head out. We have discovered several great trails at some local Maryland and Delaware state parks that each offer something different and enjoyable for our rides. The guys at Wooden Wheels bike shop in Newark have been great to us as well, helping us pick […]

French Dip Sandwiches to kick off Man Food Week

French_dip3

Father’s Day is next Sunday and to honor the men in our lives, I decided to do a whole week dedicated to “Man Food.” Now, personally, I don’t believe in ‘man food’ or ‘woman food’ because I’ll pick a rare stake over a cupcake or pint of home made mint chocolate chip ice cream all day any day – so if there are categories, I certainly don’t fall into one. However, these are recipes that make me think ‘manly.’ These are the grab the napkins, roll up the sleeves and prepare your gullet for an experience it won’t soon forgive […]
