Peanut Butter Cheesecake

Handsome and I are headed out for a weekend of adventure in North Carolina. I’ll be meeting his sister, niece, and nephews for the first time.  It’s a much needed ‘family’ vacation and I, for one, am really excited. Handsome and I actually do really well in a car together for several hours – and I figure that’s a pretty big accomplishment for any couple. Nothing is going to plan, and we are both over due for a few days off so this is going to be a blast! Follow my Instagram for random photos and probably at least one […]

Capt’n Crunch Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Captain Crunch Chocolate Chip Ice Cream from

Things Ive learned recently: You aren’t supposed to wear underbritches under riding gear. Seriously, no one told me. How was I supposed to know. Someone tried to justify that with ‘if it comes with built in anything you don’t need to’. Um really? Cuz those tanks with built in bras simply do not work for me. Decided that this is the time to start changing your life is terribly empowering. About an hour later, its absolutely terrifying because you stop day dreaming and start realizing just exactly how much work that is going to be. And how costly. Why does […]

Red Velvet Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

While traveling to work the other day I had on the Serious XM Country Christmas radio station and I heard something that reminded me what Christmas was all about. I didn’t catch the very beginning, so I am not sure if it was the DJ’s personal story or something previously recorded, but who ever was talking was reminiscing about childhood Christmas’s in a small town. He talked about how his family only had one strand of lights, how they didn’t have much, but as children they never knew. He talked fondly of his mothers baked goods. Cookies and pies. He went into […]

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Swirl Bars

Whether you are ready for it or not, baking season is here. Thank God those over sized sweaters are popular this year because you are going to need them this holiday season with all the things I have in store for you. Trust me, I am already feeling the calories set it. Diggin’ It Tuesday is a little hint hint wink wink at some of the supplies you are going to want to have in your well stocked pantry for the upcoming recipes on PtS as well as any killer recipes you have planned at home. These few secret […]

Red Velvet Indulgence

I’ve often read when one is down, to bake something to get your mind off it (and pig out on later). I often find myself cooking no matter what’s on my mind but I have never indulged in a food when I am down. Actually, I tend to eat a lot less. However, this one breaks the mold. The next time I am down on my luck – I am making this – and I am pigging the heck out! Originally, this recipe was intended for Saturday nights party, but it never made it to the table with everything else […]

Pumpkin Cheesecake Swirl Brownies

Handsome just found out that I often don’t taste my baked goods before offering them to others. This seemed to shock him. I kinda giggled at it. Yes, it’s basic kitchen knowledge to taste, taste, taste. But really, with baked goods, by the time the item is on the table, I’m done. I know I’m going to make a lot of people cringe, but I do often taste the batter. With most sweet desserts, if the batter doesn’t taste right – neither will the finished product. So, I’d say 99% of the time, I have a pretty good idea how […]

Cream Cheese Marbled Brownies

It’s dark, late and your tired. As you pull into your driveway your headlights illuminate two yard gnomes sitting, patiently contemplating their next chess move. At first it startles you and then, as you get over the creepiness of your new visitors, you realize, you’ve been gnomed.   Have you heard of ‘gnoming‘? A customer of mine was telling me about it. It’s a game played amongst friends where you place gnomes surreptitiously for your friends to find. The only rule is that if you are called on your ‘gnoming’ you have to own it. Seriously, I want to go […]

Weekend Rodeo Round-up and Ina Garten’s Cheese Danish

I wore a white shirt today. I should have known better…   To sum up my weekend – I didn’t fall off a horse, the BF”s dog LOVES fireworks, and there was no blood shed or tears. Skim down to the recipe if you don’t feel like reading the elongated version of the note posted above.   This weekend my family went horseback riding. It was actually a lot of fun and the first family activity that wasn’t a BBQ that I can remember. I had only been on a horse once before as a small child at day camp […]

If bad eggs float and good eggs sink…

Which do I burn for being a witch? Ok, that idea did make me giggle while I was thinking about whether or not to use eggs that were one day over the expiration date on the box. I am an expiration date freak. The moment the milk hits that day – ew and gone. Pretty much the moment everything hits that day, gone. Let me tell you, there’s a lot of ew and gones in a kitchen that you didn’t stock but now cook in. Like gravy packets (….gravy packets…) that had expired 4 years before you started using the […]

I Will Never Be The Next Food Network Star.

We’ve all danced around our kitchens fantasizing about being the next food network diva (I mean some of them are so boring a log could be more entertaining). Personally, I’m convinced they are missing a market. Sunny is close, as she cooks for herself and friends often entertaining. Brian Boitano would be close too if he were a little younger, as he caters to crowds. The scene food network is missing is the girls who are still in college, not married, don’t have kids, are on the highway to the career of their dreams that want to be the hostest […]

I believe in licking the spoon.

We’re snowed in again today as another blizzard is blanketing the area. I’m not exactly sure how much we’re supposed to get this time but I think people are pretty much over the ‘ohh and ahh pretty snow’ stage – mainly because I don’t have 38 facebook posts announcing the snow. Walmart was so picked over that they were even out of frozen spinach. People had moved past milk and bread and the heavy cream and tortillas were gone as well. I got what I needed as was able to get out in a reasonable time to come home and […]

Theres no visual evidence.

I love my some Christmas cheer but everything gets so stressful at times. My uncles birthday is New Years Eve and that stinks cuz he never gets a party just for himself, but on the other hand, the whole world celebrates his birthday. Kind of. So we were finally able to get together Thursday night to exchange Christmas gifts and celebrate his birthday. I made a gingered beef stir fry and chocolate cupcakes with a cream cheese peanut butter frosting. However, due to the stress of trying to get the house un-Chirstmased, tidying up for guests, and making dinner, I […]
