No large family gathering (or small for that matter) is complete with out a big basket of rolls, biscuits, or bread. The men in my life just wouldn’t stand for it. And while the ladies may be sitting around counting calories, I know I can never turn down a good buttery biscuit either. To me they always taste better long after the table has cleared and the fond conversation of family and friends has gone on for far too long, when I sneak back into the kitchen for a little round two with some leftover turkey or ham in the […]
Happy Thanksgiving!!! Today, I will be snuggled up with two giant pups watching the Thanksgiving day parade and gleefully anticipating the big mans arrival while trying to whip something up for our last minute turkey day plans. The afternoon will be filled with friends and family. I hope those of you who don’t have to work today, are enjoy Thanksgiving with your loved ones. And for those who are working today, I hope you get an extra day off or some serious double pay some time soon too! Pumpkin pie may be the most talked about dessert on the t-day […]
Can a girl get hells yeah on that melty gooey cheesiness? One thing I have never done that I would like to kick off the bucket list is hard core tailgating. Hell, ‘hardcore’? I’ve never even tailgated at all. But it does look like my kind of gig. Tons of people, tons of food and a friendly atmosphere. Yeah, I could feed me some strangers. My father is one of those guys who would be great at it and draw a crowd from miles around if he ever brought his little Webber to the park and set up. He has one of […]
The other day my parents told me a friend of the family’s kid was reading my website. My first thought was cool. My second thought was, damn, do I curse too much? (Not possible, I am way more filtered on here than in the real world, snugglier too). I’m always shocked to find that people I know read a food blog. Not because normal people don’t fill their Friday evenings with 32 tabs opened from Foodgawker or pages from Cook’s Illustrated planning next weeks menu, but because I am not sure what interest one would have in it unless you were, well, […]
Because I’m an awesome planner (or maybe I am just a freak about my magazines), I ripped out a page in Rachael Ray October 2011 – and wrote the date on it – to share with you. As I mentioned yesterday, I know nothing about football, but RR was kind enough to have an entire page summing up the game for me. The article covers everything from the quarterback being the person who throws the ball, to the value of the touchdowns. That being said I still have no clue what an H-back is, or who the why the linebacker is watching […]
Holy post holiday madness, Batman. I am so glad I don’t work Mondays because I really need today to just recover. For anyone who has to work today, or yesterday, bless you. Christmas day was an awesome 12 hour marathon of presents, family, dinner, a visit from my favorite Rottweiler, and more presents. I scored mass amounts of awesomeness, a shiny new Kindle and now I need to teach myself how to use it. These new fangled kids and their crazy technologies I am looking for new books to read now more than ever and am wondering how magazine subscriptions […]
Handsome and I have recently gotten ourselves knee deep into a new hobby. One I would have never imagined myself doing alone. Mountain biking. Every weekend and on weeknights where one of us doesn’t have school or work, we load up the truck with out two new Cannondale bikes, our silly sport apparel, and helmets and head out. We have discovered several great trails at some local Maryland and Delaware state parks that each offer something different and enjoyable for our rides. The guys at Wooden Wheels bike shop in Newark have been great to us as well, helping us pick […]
And Gina’s Cheddar and Herb Biscuits. This week we decided to have some friends over Friday night for dinner. Why I decided to have friends over this week is still a little beyond me as I have a mental breakdown over the condition of the house. The house is always in a perpetual state of work but this week was drywall sanding week. That’s right folks, it can snow in June. Or it can at least look like snow in June. My hair feels even like drywall. It’s everywhere.
