Today I am baking cookies with my dad. It's a long tradition where we both ditch work and bake as many cookies as our round dining room table can possibly hold. After every batch comes out the oven, I have to taste test one. Quality assurance that the warm chocolate chip cookie is perfect. We fill tins and plastic containers as the day goes on and divide them between anxious family and friends. It simply wouldn't be Christmas without Dad's signature chocolate chip and chocolate peanut butter chip cookies.

Last Saturday I gathered around a holiday dinner with some of the best people I know. Courses were served with clips of holiday favorites as we served ourselves our own personal signature flavors. We laughed as the night went on for hours, reliving clips from our personal holiday favorites as we dined on superb courses of smoked duck and banana poached and infused chocolate ice cream. It was perfect.

And after a few hours at work, where even the mailman was smiling from ear to ear with holiday glee, I finished up the last of the details for the thoughtful holiday gifts, and went home to put the final wrappings on presents for my niece and nephews. I sipped a little as I listened to my holiday stations making my whole house festive and bright.

This is the holidays to me. The company. The moments. The laughter.

There isn't a single thing beneath the ribbons and bows that would make or break the holiday season. It's never been about the presents (though I love to give them). It has always been about the toasts to friendship over a long celebratory supper. The hours spent hanging out with my Daddy sharing silly stories. The clanging of 'Cheers' while sharing a small supper with a few close friends or family.

It's the moments that matter. They are the memories.

I honestly can't recall one present unwrapped on last year's Christmas morning, but I remember fondly coming home from a trip to visit my Aunt's holiday party. To dress in our best for our annual New Year's dinner. To spend a few moments longer at my shop welcoming happy clients and customers in for a bit more holiday joy. I can remember all of that. And those memories are the moments that make the holidays for me.

Grab a fun festive cocktail, or something as easy as a pack of mike's Glacier Berry for the holidays and remember to enjoy what really matters. The company.

Yep, this post is sponsored. Girls gotta pay the rent. However, the thoughts and opinions are my own. I really do think the holidays are about the people. Cheers.
